Apply for a scholarship

Step Up Parents offers financial assistance to kinship caregivers raising children whose parents struggle with substance use disorder. In keeping with our mission, we will grant one student residing in New Hampshire or York County, Maine a $1,000 scholarship for post high school education who meets the following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility

  • Must be living with or have lived with a kinship caregiver as a result of own parent(s) substance misuse

  • Must be a New Hampshire or York County, Maine resident

  • Must be graduating high school or have GED

  • Must plan on attending an accredited post-secondary education institution

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 – provide official documentation

  • Write a short essay...600 word limit

•  What are your goals after high school, and how have your life experiences shaped these goals?

What you need to know:

  • Application deadline is April 15, 2024

  • Scholarship awards are for the upcoming academic year.

  • Upon successful completion of first semester of college, transcript of grades, proof of continued enrollment and billing statement from college or university must be sent to jparker@stepupparents.org for payment.

  • A change in college choice after a scholarship is awarded could result in a

    reduction of amount or loss of award.
